Francia y Croacia, protagonistas de la final brindaron un espectáculo sobre el césped del estadio Luzhniki ante al menos 80 mil espectadores.

Los frances finalmente hicieron valer los pronóticos haciéndose de su segundo título en su historia con una plantilla joven tras vencer con un marcador contundentemente 4-2 a su rival.

Los goles del campeón fueron obra de Mario Mandzukic (autogol), Antoine Grizmann, Paul Pogba, Kylian Mbappé. Del otro lado de la cancha descontaron: Ivan Perisic y el propio Mandzukic.
